Strong Start Application

    Program Overview

    Here at the U, we believe a “Strong Start” leads to a strong finish. Our summer academic and residential programs will provide hands-on mentorships to a diverse group of first-year students. Our goal is to not only help you acclimate yourself to life at the U, but thrive in your college experience, setting you up for a bright academic career.

    Our students will enroll in two credit-bearing courses (a Writing or Math, and the Intro Design Thinking course) at one of the top research universities in the country, fulfilling general education requirements, all while building meaningful academic and social relationships that will last a lifetime.

    Program dates for Summer 2024 are June 17 through August 2; for an additional housing and dining cost, there is an 
    optional stayover period that falls between moveout and the start of the Fall 2024 Semester.

    Program highlights and benefits include the following:

    ●      Earn 6-7 general education credits

    ●      Access to learning communities

    ●      On-campus housing - start your residency clock early (for those needing to meet a residency requirement)

    ●      Learn how to navigate campus

    ●      Build community with peers toward a greater sense of belonging

    ●      Weekly whole group check-in sections with Strong Start leaders

    ●      Connection to built-in wrap around academic support services: supplemental instruction (SI), Student Success coaches, tutoring, mentoring, etc.
